Villanova vs Creighton College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/3/21

The Creighton Bluejays and the Villanova Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from the Pavilion. 

Creighton enters this one at 17-6 so far. The Bluejays are 4-1 in their last five and coming off a loss to Xavier. As for Villanova, they’re 15-4 this year. Creighton has done a nice job at staying consistent this season, and they’ve lost consecutive games just once so far. The Bluejays started out February with a loss, but then took out Marquette, Georgetown, Villanova and DePaul prior to the Xavier loss. 

In the 77-69 defeat on Saturday, Creighton’s lead scorer was Damien Jefferson with 19 points and eight rebounds. Marcus Zegarowski added 15 points with 10 boards, and both Denzel Mahoney and Mitchell Ballock chipped in 11 points apiece.
Over on the Villanova side, they’ve had a nice run thus far, and haven’t lost consecutive games yet this year. The Wildcats went 4-3 in February, beating Georgetown, Marquette, UConn and St. John’s while otherwise falling to St. John’s, Creighton and Butler. 

In the 73-61 loss to Butler on Sunday, Villanova’s Jeremiah Robinson-Earl doubled up on 16 points with 16 rebounds while Collin Gillespie put up 14 points and five boards. both Justin Moore and Caleb Daniels chipped in 10 points as well. 

The Wildcats are 3-1-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four as an underdog. The over is 9-4 in Villanova’s last 13 overall and 9-4 in their last 13 as a favorite. 

Meanwhile, the Bluejays are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 as a favorite and 4-0 ATS in their last four as an underdog. Creighton is 2-6 ATS in their last eight road games and the under is 3-1-1 in the last five overall. 

PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Villanova here. You could probably make a good case either way however; this should be a great matchup. That said, Creighton won the last game between these teams 86-70. The Bluejays shot a scorching 59.3 percent from the field, and Villanova really couldn’t get it going on offense at 37.5 percent. Otherwise, the Wildcats hung in there pretty well. I expect another excellent game in the rematch and I like Villanova slightly better on the cover. Don’t miss this one.
