The Louisville Cardinals and the Virginia Tech Hokies meet in college basketball action from Cassell Coliseum on Wednesday night.

The Louisville Cardinals will look to build on an 80-73 overtime win over Duke in their last time out. Carlik Jones leads the Cardinals in scoring and assists with 17.6 PPG and 4.5 APG to go along with 5.2 RPG while David Johnson’s got 12.5 PPG with 5.7 RPG and 3.4 APG this season. Jay’len Withers has 10.1 PPG and a team-high 8 RPG while Samuell Williamson has 10 PPG and 7.9 RPG as well this season. As a team, Louisville is averaging 69.2 PPG on 44.2% shooting from the field and 30.7% from three while giving up 66.2 PPG on 41.6% shooting from the field and 30.5% from three this season.

The Virginia Tech Hokies will look to build on an 86-64 rout of Wake Forest in their last matchup. Keve Aluma leads the Hokies in scoring and rebounding with 15.9 PPG and 8 RPG while Tyrece Radford has 11.4 PPG with 6.1 RPG and Nahiem Alleyne also has 10.2 PPG to make up the Hokies’ trio of double-digit scorers up to this point in the season. Justyn Mutts also has 8.9 PPG with 6.4 RPG and Wabissa Bede leads the Hokies in assists with 3.1 APG this season. As a team, Virginia Tech is averaging 72.1 PPG on 45.1% shooting from the field and 35.3% from three while allowing 64,8 PPG on 41.7% shooting from the field and 32.7% from 3-point range this season.

Louisville is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games and 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games following an ATS win while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 road games. Virginia Tech is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win while the under is 7-2 in their last 9 games overall. The underdog is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings between these two teams.

You could make the case that Virginia Tech should be favored by more considering that this Hokies bunch is allowing just under 62 PPG at home this season while putting up almost 73 themselves. However, The first meeting between the two was a two-point win for Louisville and while the Cardinals may not win the rematch, I expect this one to go down to the wire as well as the Cardinals are no pushover. I’ll take the points and Louisville here.
