Dixie State vs New Mexico State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/5/21

The New Mexico State Aggies and the Dixie State Trailblazers meet Friday in college basketball action from Burns Arena. 

New Mexico State enters this one at 8-7 so far. The Aggies are 3-1 in their last four and coming off a win over UT Rio Grande Valley. As for Dixie State, they’re 8-11 this year. New Mexico State has been hanging around the .500 mark for most of the season, but they haven’t quite been able to pull away. The Aggies are 3-1 in their last four games, taking out Utah Valley, Tarleton and UT Rio Grande Valley in that stretch. 

In the 69-51 win over UTRGV on Tuesday, New Mexico State’s Jabari Rice led the team on 16 points with eight rebounds and four assists. Clayton Henry added 15 points with five rebounds and one assist, and CJ Roberts had 12 points with six rebounds. 

Over on the Dixie State side, they came out of the gate well at 4-1, but then hit a seven-game losing skid in January. Since then the Trailblazers are 4-3, taking out Cal Baptist, Seattle, Utah Valley and Tarleton State in that time. 

In the 64-48 win over Tarleton on February 20, Dixie State’s Isaiah Pope led the team with 22 points, seven rebounds and three assists with one steal. Andre Mulibea chipped in with 14 points and two rebounds off the bench as well. 

The Aggies are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up win. New Mexico State is 1-5 ATS in their last six Friday games and the under is 6-0 in their last nine road games. 

Meanwhile, the over is 4-1 in the Trailblazers’ last five Friday games and 4-1 in the last five home games. The under is 4-1-1 in Dixie State’s last six home games versus a team with a losing road record as well. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Dixie State here. The Trailblazers have been at 64 or below in each of their last two games, but they can score pretty well when the matchup is right. Dixie State hasn’t played in a while (February 20), so they may come in a little rusty. If the Trailblazers can find some early offensive rhythm, I can see them keeping the pace on a cover.
