The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders and the North Texas Mean Green meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Ford Center at the Star.

Coming into this Conference USA Tournament matchup, the Raiders are 5-17. Middle Tennessee has lost six straight, most recently to Florida Atlantic. As for North Texas, they’re 13-9 this year. The Green have lost three straight to Marshall and UAB. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Middle Tennessee stumbled out of the gate this year at 3-5, then hit a six-game losing streak in January. After a couple of wins over Charlotte, the Raiders have lost six straight to Marshall, Old Dominion and Florida Atlantic.

In the 63-54 loss to Florida Atlantic last Friday, Middle Tennessee’s Jalen Jordan put up 17 points with three rebounds and three assists. Jordan Davis added 12 points with four rebounds and three assists in that one as well.

Over on the North Texas side, they were hovering around the .500 mark for most of the early season, but then hit a nice stretch from January 15 to February 26 with just one loss. Since then the Green have dropped three straight to Marshall and UAB, however.

In the 65-61 loss to UAB, North Texas’ Javion Hamlet put up 19 points with five assists and three rebounds. Thomas Bell added 18 points with six rebounds and one assist, and James Reese chipped in 11 points with three boards in 35 minutes of work.

North Texas is 2-9 ATS in their last 11 neutral-site games and 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. The Green are 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and the under is 7-2 in their last nine overall.

Meanwhile, the Raiders are 1-15 ATS in their last 16 neutral-site gaels and 1-4 ATS in their last five Wednesday games. The under is 4-0 in Middle Tennessee’s last four overall and 8-2 in their last 10 neutral-site games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with North Texas. The Mean Green have been a little off offensively over their last eight games, and they’ve hit 70 points just twice in that stretch. That said, Middle Tennessee has had some issues scoring themselves with 61 or fewer in four straight. I like North Texas to put the clamps down on defense in this one and bag a lower-scoring cover.
