Cal Baptist vs Seattle College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/11/21

The Seattle Redhawks and the California Baptist Lancers meet Thursday in college basketball action from Orleans Arena. 

Coming into this WAC Tournament matchup, Seattle is 11-10 overall. The Redhawks are 1-2 in their last three games and coming off a loss to Cal Baptist. Seattle stumbled out of the gate at 3-4, but then hit a nice 4-1 stretch in December to get back on track. After a slew of cancellations in January and February, the Redhawks are 2-2 in their last four. They’ve split with both Grand Canyon and Cal Baptist in that stretch. 

In the 79-76 loss to Cal Baptist on Saturday, Seattle’s Darrion Trammell led the team with 26 points, six assists and four rebounds. Riley Grigsby added 25 points with nine boards, and Emeka Udenyi had 10 points with 12 rebounds. 

Over on the Cal Baptist side, they were sitting at a solid 8-4 back in late January, but then dropped four of their next six games. The Lancers are 3-1 in their last four, taking out Grand Canyon, Vanguard and Seattle U in that time. 

In their win over the Redhawks on Saturday, Cal Baptist’s Gorjok Gak topped the team with 16 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Elijah Thomas added 15 points with four rebounds and two assists, and Reed Nottage had 13 points with four rebounds. 

Cal Baptist is 1-4 ATS in their last five overall and 16-6 ATS in their last 22 as an underdog. The over is 13-6 in the Lancers’ last 19 overall and 6-2 in their last eight after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Redhawks are 5-2 ATS in their last seven overall and 4-1 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss. The over is 8-3 in Seattle’s last 11 overall and the under is 9-4 in their last 13 neutral-site games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a shot on Cal Baptist in this one. You could make a good case either way, however. The last two games between these teams were a split: Seattle won 80-79 and the Lancers took one 79-76. This tournament matchup is likely going to be another high-scoring and tight game the whole way. I like Cal Baptist to bang out a late cover/win in a thriller.
