The South Carolina Gamecocks and the Ole Miss Rebels meet Thursday in college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena.

Coming into this SEC Tournament matchup, South Carolina is 6-14 overall. The Gamecocks are 1-2 in their last three and coming off a loss to Kentucky. As for Ole Miss, they’re 15-10 this year. The Rebels are 3-1 in their last four and coming off a win over Vanderbilt. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

South Carolina hasn’t had much luck this year, and they’ve won consecutive games just once. The Gamecocks are mired in an ugly 1-8 stretch over their last nine games. Since beating Georgia they’ve lost to Arkansas and Kentucky.

In the 92-64 loss to Kentucky on Saturday, South Carolina’s Keyshawn Bryant led the way on 16 points with five rebounds and two assists. Jalyn McCreary was also in double-figures in that one with 14 points and three rebounds in 14 minutes of work.

Over on the Ole Miss side, they started out the year at 4-0 but then hit a 4-8 run in December and January. Since then the Rebels are a solid 7-2 in their last nine. They’ve beaten Kentucky and Vanderbilt in their last pair of outings.

In the 56-46 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, Ole Miss’ Jarkel Joiner put up 15 points with four rebounds and three assists, and Romeo White added 11 points with four rebounds and two assists. Matthew Murrell chipped in eight points with four boards as well.

The Rebels are 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall and 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games. The under is 20-9 in Ole Miss’ last 29 Thursday games and 19-6-2 in their last 27 overall.

Meanwhile, the Gamecocks are 0-3-1 ATS in their last four Thursday games and 1-5 ATS in their last six after a straight-up loss. South Carolina is 1-6 ATS in their last seven overall and 1-4 ATS in their last five neutral-site games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with Ole Miss. The last time these teams met up on February 13, the Rebels took an 81-74 victory. Mississippi shot a nice 50.0 percent from the field but did get out-rebounded 31-30 and coughed up 20 turnovers. If the Rebels can play a cleaner game with better ball control this time around, the cover should be there.
