Weber State vs Montana College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 3/11/21

The Montana Grizzlies and the Weber State Wildcats meet Thursday in college basketball action from CenturyLink Arena. 

Coming into this Big Sky Tournament matchup, Montana sits at 14-12 so far. The Grizzlies just took out Idaho in tourney action on Wednesday. As for Weber State, they’re 17-5 this year. Montana ran into some trouble back in February with a 1-4 skid, beating Weber State once during that stretch. After that however, the Grizzlies found their groove with five straight wins, including Wednesday’s victory over Idaho. 

In the Wednesday tournament win over Idaho, Montana jumped out to a 38-30 lead at the half and were able to hang on for a 69-64 result. Leading the way for the Grizzlies was Josh Vazquez with 21 points, two rebounds and four steals. 

Over on the Wildcats’ side, they stumbled to a 3-3 start this year but have lost just two games since. Weber State has fallen to Southern Utah and Montana in their last 16 games, but has otherwise been perfect. Their last game was a one-point win over Northern Colorado. 

In the 60-59 win over Northern Colorado on March 4, Weber State’s Isiah Brown and Dillon Jones each notched 18 points to lead the team. That duo combined for one assist and 12 rebounds in the victory as well. 

Weber State is 1-5 ATS in their last six neutral-site games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight Thursday games. The Wildcats are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 overall and the over is 4-1 in their last five Thursday games. 

Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 neutral-site games and 4-1 ATS in their last five Thursday games. Montana is 1-5 ATS in their last six overall and the over is 5-2 in their last seven overall. 

PICK: I’m leaning toward Weber State here. The Wildcats had a close escape in their last game versus Northern Colorado (60-59), but prior to that they’d scored 72 or more points in five straight games and were on a nice roll. Weber State has a great offense and it’s rare that they don’t come away with a nice points total. This should be a fun one, but I think the Wildcats are in control.
