The Mississippi State Bulldogs and the Alabama Crimson Tide meet Saturday in college basketball action from Coleman Coliseum.

Mississippi State is sitting at 9-6 so far. The Bulldogs are 1-2 in their las three games and coming off a loss to Ole Miss. As for Alabama, they’re currently 12-3 this season. The Tide have won eight straight games, most recently over LSU this week. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Mississippi State began their year at 3-3, then won three of their next four with a loss to Kentucky. The Bulldogs then beat Missouri and Vanderbilt before falling to Texas A&M. Since then it’s been a win over Florida and a loss to Ole Miss on Tuesday.

In the 64-46 loss to the Rebels, Mississippi State’s DJ Stewart posted 18 points with three boards, and Tolu Smith had 10 points with six rebounds and two assists. Iverson Molinar chipped in seven points with three assists and six rebounds in 34 minutes as well.

Over on the Alabama side, they began their season at 4-3 with losses to Stanford, Clemson and Western Kentucky. Since then it’s been an eight-game win streak for the Tide with victories over East Tennessee State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Arkansas and LSU.

In Tuesday’s 105-75 blowout win over the Tigers, Alabama’s John Petty led the way on 24 points with four rebounds and two assists. Both Joshua Primo and Jahvon Quinerly added 22 points in 19 minutes apiece, combining for one assist and five rebounds for the Tide.

The Tide are 8-0 ATS in their last eight games overall and 4-0 ATS in their last four as a home favorite. Alabama is 4-0 ATS in their last four home games and the under is 5-1 in their last six Saturday games.

Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 16-7 ATS in their last 23 Saturday games and 6-14-1 ATS in their last 21 after a double-digit home loss. The over is 4-0 in Mississippi State’s last four road games and 5-2 in their last seven overall.

PICK: I’ve got to stick with Alabama in this one. The Tide were on fire in their last outing against a pretty darn good LSU team. Alabama put up 55.9 percent shooting from the field, 53.5 percent from 3-point range, 43 rebounds, 20 assists, four blocks and seven steals. The Bulldogs have been flat in two of their last three games, and this will be another tough opponent. I think the Tide power out a cover here.
