The Mississippi Rebels and the LSU Tigers meet Friday in college basketball action from Bridgestone Arena.

Coming into this SEC Tournament matchup, Ole Miss is 16-10 overall. The Rebels took out South Carolina on Thursday in the tournament. As for LSU, they’re sitting at 16-8 this year. The Tigers have won consecutive games over Vanderbilt and Missouri. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Ole Miss has had an up-and-down season so far, and they were sitting at 8-8 back on January 30. The Rebels hit a four-game win streak after that, and they’re 3-0 in their last trio. Mississippi has taken out Kentucky, Vanderbilt and South Carolina in that stretch.

In the Thursday tournament matchup versus South Carolina, Ole Miss jumped out to a 41-26 edge at the half and cruised from there to a 76-59 blowout win. Leading the way was Jarkel Joiner with 18 points, three rebounds and two assists.

Over on the LSU side, they kicked off their year on a nice 10-2 run, but then lost four of their next five games. The Tigers then went 3-2 over their next five outings, and last week took out Vanderbilt and Missouri in consecutive games.

In the 86-80 win over Missouri on Saturday, LSU’s Cameron Thomas led the team with 29 points and three rebounds. Trendon Watford added 19 points with eight rebounds and four assists, and Javonte Smart put up 13 points with four boards.

The Tigers are 3-14-1 ATS in their last 18 Friday games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS win. LSU is 7-18-2 ATS in their last 27 neutral-site games and the over is 6-2 in their last eight after a straight-up win.

Meanwhile, the Rebels are 6-2 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven after a straight-up win. Ole Miss is 8-2 ATS in the last 10 overall and 2-5 ATS in their last seven neutral-site games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with LSU here. The Tigers have had a few sketchy spots this year, and they’ve faltered in a few matchups. That said, when LSU is rolling they generally score pretty well and are a formidable opponent to pretty much anyone. The Tigers have hit 75 or more points in each of their last seven games. A quick start in this tournament game will go a long way toward LSU banging out a cover/win. Should be a fun one.
