The Indiana Hoosiers and NC State Wolfpack meet Saturday in the women’s college basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 at the Alamodome.

The Indiana Hoosiers look for another win after beating VCU and Belmont in their first two rounds. The Indiana Hoosiers are averaging 75.4 points on 45.7 percent shooting and allowing 59.3 points on 37 percent shooting. Mackenzie Holmes is averaging 17.8 points and 7.8 rebounds while Grace Berger is averaging 15.5 points and 6.7 rebounds. Ali Patberg is the third double-digit scorer and Jaelynn Penn is grabbing 4.9 rebounds. The Indiana Hoosiers are shooting 29.2 percent from beyond the arc and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. The Indiana Hoosiers are allowing 29.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 39.3 rebounds per game.

The NC State Wolfpack look for another win after beating North Carolina A&T and South Florida in their first two rounds. The NC State Wolfpack are averaging 77.5 points on 46.9 percent shooting and allowing 61.5 points on 36.6 percent shooting. Elissa Cunane is averaging 16.3 points and 8.1 rebounds while Jakia Brown-Turner is averaging 13.7 points and five rebounds. Kayla Jones is the third double-digit scorer and Jada Boyd is grabbing 6.1 rebounds. The NC State Wolfpack are shooting 36.3 percent from beyond the arc and 75.4 percent from the free throw line. The NC State Wolfpack are allowing 30.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 41.8 rebounds per game.

This is a tough game to predict because of the status of Elissa Cunane and Kayla Jones for NC State, two of the Wolfpacks top players who didn’t participate in the second round against USF and appear to be game time decisions for this contest. Obviously oddsmakers don’t believe either will be suiting up with Indiana being the slight favorite. Assuming neither plays or are limited, you have to like the Hoosiers chances of advancing. The Indiana Hoosiers proved to be an elite defensive team this season in a Big Ten that was loaded with quality offenses, and they allowed an average of 40 points in their first two games this tournament.

If Cunane or Jones can’t go, I’ll side with Indiana making its first ever Elite Eight.
