The Arizona Wildcats and Texas A&M Aggies meet Saturday in the women’s college basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 at the Alamodome.

The Arizona Wildcats look for another win after beating Stony Brook and BYU in their first two rounds. The Arizona Wildcats are averaging 66.5 points on 41.3 percent shooting and allowing 55.1 points on 36.4 percent shooting. Aari McDonald is averaging 19.3 points and 5.2 rebounds while Cate Reese is averaging 11.6 points and 5.2 rebounds. Trinity Baptiste is grabbing six rebounds and Sam Thomas is grabbing 3.3 rebounds. The Arizona Wildcats are shooting 32.6 percent from beyond the arc and 69.7 percent from the free throw line. The Arizona Wildcats are allowing 31.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 37 rebounds per game.

The Texas A&M Aggies look for another win after beating Troy and Iowa State in their first two rounds. The Texas A&M Aggies are averaging 75.8 points on 46.9 percent shooting and allowing 62.2 points on 38.1 percent shooting. Aaliyah Wilson is averaging 12.6 points and 5.8 rebounds while N’dea Jones is averaging 12.1 points and 10.4 rebounds. Kayla Wells is the third double-digit scorer and Jordan Nixon is grabbing 1.9 rebounds. The Texas A&M Aggies are shooting 37.6 percent from beyond the arc and 72.9 percent from the free throw line. The Texas A&M Aggies are allowing 32.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 38.7 rebounds per game.

The Arizona Wildcats aren’t the sexiest team in the tournament and they can be involved in some real ugly games, but they get after it defensively and find ways to get the job done. You can understand why Arizona is the favorite in this spot. However, you can say similar things about the Texas A&M Aggies, a team that’s won their first two games by a combined six points and just beat Iowa State on a last second shot. We know Texas A&M is the better offensive team here and you can argue its the better team overall with the momentum on its side.

I like Texas A&M to win this game outright, but I’ll take the points just to be safe. The Texas A&M Aggies make their first Elite Eight since 2004.
