The Iowa Hawkeyes and UConn Huskies meet Saturday in the women’s college basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 at the Alamodome.

The Iowa Hawkeyes look for another win after beating Central Michigan and Kentucky in their first two rounds. The Iowa Hawkeyes are averaging 86.6 points on 51.6 percent shooting and allowing 79.9 points on 44.1 percent shooting. Caitlin Clark is averaging 26.8 points and six rebounds while Monika Czinano is averaging 19.4 points and 5.9 rebounds. McKenna Warnock is the third double-digit scorer and Gabbie Marshall is grabbing two rebounds. The Iowa Hawkeyes are shooting 40.7 percent from beyond the arc and 79.8 percent from the free throw line. The Iowa Hawkeyes are allowing 34.2 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 36 rebounds per game.

The UConn Huskies look for another win after beating High Point and Syracuse in their first two rounds. The UConn Huskies are averaging 82.8 points on 51.7 percent shooting and allowing 50.8 points on 32.9 percent shooting. Paige Bueckers is averaging 19.9 points and 4.7 rebounds while Christyn Williams is averaging 15.5 points and 4.2 rebounds. Olivia Nelson-Ododa is the third double-digit scorer and Aaliyah Edwards is grabbing 5.7 rebounds. The UConn Huskies are shooting 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 72 percent from the free throw line. The UConn Huskies are allowing 26.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 41.9 rebounds per game.

The UConn Huskies are obviously the better team here and should win, and they have a long history of making good teams look regular. However, this is a ton of points to give an Iowa team that can fill it up offensively. The Iowa Hawkeyes are not only led by one of the better players in the country in Caitlin Clark, but they’ve scored 80 or more points in 16 of their last 18 games. Even against high quality teams like Maryland, Michigan and Indiana, the Iowa Hawkeyes had their way offensively and score by the truckload. I have a hard time turning down points with a team that’s going to produce as it is.

Give me Iowa and the free buckets.
