The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and South Carolina Gamecocks meet Sunday in the women’s college basketball NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 at the Alamodome.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets look for another win after beating Stephen F. Austin and West Virginia in their first two rounds. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are averaging 65.6 points on 42.2 percent shooting and allowing 61 points on 40.1 percent shooting. Lotta-Maj Lahtinen is averaging 14.8 points and 4.6 rebounds while Kierra Fletcher is averaging 12.9 points and 5.5 rebounds. Lorela Cubaj is the third double-digit scorer and Loyal McQueen is grabbing 1.4 rebounds. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are shooting 31.3 percent from beyond the arc and 67.7 percent from the free throw line. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are allowing 32.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 37.2 rebounds per game.

The South Carolina Gamecocks look for another win after beating Mercer and Oregon State in their first two rounds. The South Carolina Gamecocks are averaging 76.3 points on 43.7 percent shooting and allowing 58.5 points on 36.4 percent shooting. Zia Cooke is averaging 15.6 points and 2.9 rebounds while Aliyah Boston is averaging 14.1 points and 11.7 rebounds. Destanni Henderson is the third double-digit scorer and Victoria Saxton is grabbing 5.9 rebounds. The South Carolina Gamecocks are shooting 32.1 percent from beyond the arc and 67.6 percent from the free throw line. The South Carolina Gamecocks are allowing 26.5 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 47.9 rebounds per game.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have been good defensively through two games, but you can make a decent argument they’re the worst team left in this tournament and they simply don’t have the elite playmakers to match up with South Carolina. The South Carolina Gamecocks comfortably won their first two games of the tournament despite not shooting the ball well, and while that’s concerning if it continues, it may also be a sign that they’re due for an offensive explosion. South Carolina is head and shoulders the better team in this spot and has the horses to run away with things.

I’ll lay the chalk, as the Gamecocks make their fourth Elite Eight since 2015.
