The Eastern Washington Eagles and Nevada Wolf Pack meet Tuesday in college basketball action at the Lawlor Events Center. The Eastern Washington Eagles won 16 games last year and made the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The Nevada Wolf Pack are coming off back-to-back seasons where they won 16 games.

The Eastern Washington Eagles will look like a completely different team considering they’ve lost their top-seven scorers. Ellis Magnuson returns after averaging 3.6 points and two assists, while Steele Venters Plas averaged 3.6 points and 0.7 assists. Casson Rouse played in 18 games last year, and Isaiah Amato averaged 4.6 minutes per game last season. Eastern Washington has a ton of production to replace, and there’s good reason to believe they’re going to take a step back from a year ago.

The Nevada Wolf Pack return their top-three scorers from last season and have to like their chances to make a run at an MWC title. Grant Sherfield returns after averaging 18.6 points and 3.7 rebounds, while Desmond Cambridge Jr. averaged 16.3 points and 2.4 assists. Warren Washington is a third double-digit returning scorer, and Tre Coleman averaged three rebounds. The Nevada Wolf Pack are a very experienced and talented basketball team, so expectations should be a bit high this season in the desert.

The Eagles are 18-7-1 ATS in their last 26 road games and 20-8 ATS in their last 28 games overall. The Wolf Pack are 19-7 ATS in their last 26 home games and 35-16 ATS in their last 51 games overall. The under is 5-1 in Eagles last 6 overall. The over is 5-0 in Wolf Pack last 5 overall.

The Eastern Washington Eagles lost nearly all of their key players from a year ago, so there are a lot of concerns entering this season with so many new faces. The Nevada Wolf Pack are loaded in terms of returning production and this could be a year when they make a run for a conference title. I’m a bit high on Nevada this season. I’ll lay the chalk with the home team.
