San Jose State vs Cal State-Fullerton College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 11/11/2021

The Cal State Fullerton Titans and the San Jose State Spartans meet Thursday in college basketball action from Event Center Arena. Cal State Fullerton is coming off their first game of the year, a seven-point loss to Santa Clara. As for the Spartans, this will be their first activity of the season. Cal State Fullerton had an abbreviated season in 2020-21, finishing at 5-6 overall and 4-6 in Big West Conference play. That result left the Titans in seventh place in the standings. CSU Fullerton finished the year on a 3-2 run, playing their final game January 30. 

The Titans got their first game of the season in on Tuesday, ultimately falling to Santa Clara 84-77. Cal State Fullerton had a two-point deficit at the break and couldn’t get any closer. Vincent Lee finished with 18 points and nine boards; EJ Anosike doubled up on 16 points and 13 rebounds. 

Over on the San Jose State side, they’re coming off a pretty dismal year at 5-16 overall and 3-13 in Mountain West Conference play. The Spartans landed just two spots out of the basement in the conference standings, ahead of Air Force and New Mexico. 

San Jose State finished off the regular season with four losses and four cancellations over their final eight scheduled regular-season matchups. In the First Round of the Mountain West Tournament, the Spartans lost in a blowout 111-81 to Wyoming to finish off the year. 

The Titans are 5-2 ATS in their last seven as a road favorite and 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games. San Jose State is 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 overall and 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 as an underdog. The Spartans are also 1-5 ATS in their last six Thursday games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Cal State Fullerton but probably not going near this one. The Titans put up a pretty solid overall effort against Santa Clara in their opener, shooting 52.5 percent from the field with 34 rebounds. The Titans had some issues with 3-point shooting (2-of-12) and turnovers (16) however, which didn’t help. 

As for San Jose State, they’ve got a new coach and a large group of new names on the court this year. Players like Ibrahima Diallo (Ohio State) and Shon Robinson (Ole Miss) from the transfer portal should help bolster the lineup, but we’ll see how they function together as a unit on the court.
