The Wofford Terriers and the Clemson Tigers meet Friday in college basketball action from Littlejohn Coliseum. Wofford is coming off a big victory against the overmatched Bob Jones in their opener this week. As for Clemson, they took care of Presbyterian in an 11-point win during their first game. Wofford managed to go 15-9 overall last year, finishing 12-5 in Southern Conference play. The Terriers landed in second place in the standings with that effort. Wofford won their final three games of the regular season but lost to Mercer in the first game of the SoCon Tournament.

In their first outing of the year versus Bob Jones, the Terriers posted 63 points in the first half on the way to a 117-79 win. Leading the team in scoring was Max Klesmit with 23 points and two steals. Isaiah Bigelow added 10 boards and nine points as well.

Over on the Clemson side, they went 16-8 overall last year and 10-6 in the ACC. The Tigers finished in fifth place in the standings. After a loss to Miami in the ACC Tournament, Clemson earned a spot in the NCAA Tournament, where they fell 60-56 to Rutgers in the First Round.

Clemson fell behind Presbyterian in the first half of their opener 32-24, but rallied in the second on the way to a 64-53 win. Al-Amir Dawes was the leading scorer on 21 points and two assists, while Hunter Tyson came up with 14 points and seven boards.

Clemson is 1-5 ATS in their last six home games and 1-4 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. The Tigers are 1-5 ATS in their last six overall.

Meanwhile, the Terriers are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 as a road underdog and the under is 4-1 in their last five overall. The under is 37-17 in Wofford’s last 54 road games.

PICK: I’m going to go with Wofford here. The Terriers didn’t have any problems drilling Bob Jones, shooting 65.8 percent from the field and collecting 37 rebounds along the way. Wofford posted a scorching 64 percent from 3-point range as well. It was an expected win, but Wofford deserves credit for going out on the court and executing.

As for Clemson, I’m not thrilled about them after their tepid first half against Presbyterian. The Tigers probably should have been in better control during that game, but at least they fixed their issues in the second half. This should be an interesting matchup, and I like Wofford well enough to try them on a cover.
