Iowa State vs Oregon State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 11/12/2021

The Oregon State Beavers and the Iowa State Cyclones meet Friday in college basketball action from Hilton Coliseum. Oregon State managed a nine-point win over Portland State in their opener this week. As for the Cyclones, they were able to beat Kennesaw State by 11 points in their first outing of the year. Oregon State had a solid season in 2020-21, going 20-13 overall and 10-10 in Pac-12 play. The Beavers caught fire in the conference tournament, winning all three games and taking the title. Oregon State made it to the Elite Eight in the NCAA Tournament, where they lost to Houston. 

The Beavers played a tepid first half against Portland State in their opener this year, going into halftime behind 32-28. Oregon State scored 45 points in the second half for a 73-64 win. Leading the way in scoring for the Beavers was Warith Alatishe with 21 points and eight boards. 

Over on the Iowa State side, they had a dismal campaign in 2020-21 with a 2-22 overall record and an 0-18 finish in the Big 12. The Cyclones landed in last place in the conference standings and fell 79-73 to Oklahoma in the First Round of the Big 12 Tournament. 

Iowa State kicked the year off well in their opener, dispatching Kennesaw State 84-73. The Cyclones built up a 37-29 lead at halftime and cruised from there. Gabe Kalscheur was the lead scorer on 19 points, and Izaiah Brockington added 18 points with six boards. 

Iowa State is 1-4 ATS in their last five at home and 1-4-1 ATS in their last six overall. The Cyclones are 1-4-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. 

Meanwhile, the Beavers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven Friday games and 25-9 ATS in their last 34 after an ATS loss. Oregon State is 26-10 ATS in their last 36 road games. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Iowa State. The Cyclones posted a solid victory in their opener, which will go a long way toward erasing last year’s futility. Iowa State put up 52.9 percent on field-goal tries, along with 29 boards, 14 steals and 16 team assists. 

Still, Oregon State will likely control most of this game. The Beavers shot 41.9 percent from the field and pulled down 45 rebounds in their opener matchup. It’s going to be tough for the Cyclones to compete on the boards, but if they shoot well I can see Iowa State covering/winning.
