The Furman Paladins and the Louisville Cardinals meet in college basketball action from the KFC Yum! Center on Friday night.

The Furman Paladins will be looking to add to their 118-66 rout over subdivision North Greenville in their last game. Mike Bothwell and Alex Hunter each had a team-high 22 points along with 4 assists, with Bothwell shooting 9 of 13 with 3 threes and 3 steals while Hunter shot 8 of 11 from the field with 6 triples. Jalen Slawson added 19 points on 8 of 10 shooting with a team-high 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals while Conley Garrison added 14 points on 5 of 10 shooting with 4 threes and a team-high 6 assists with 5 rebounds. JP Pegues added 10 points with a pair of threes and 5 assists to finish off Furman’s scoring in double figures in the win while Garrett Hien added 9 points with 6 rebounds as well in the victory for the Paladins. As a team, Furman shot 56.1% from the field, 50% from three and 66.7% from the foul line in the win.

The Louisville Cardinals will also look to build off of a season-opening win in the form of a 72-60 victory over Southern last time out. Noah Locke led the Cardinals with 16 points on 4 of 13 shooting with 3 threes while Matt Cross had 15 points with 5 rebounds and Samuell Williamson added 14 points to match his team-high 14 reboudns to cap off the trio of double-digit scorers for Louisville in the win. Malik Williams had 13 rebounds of his own and Jaelyn Withers had 8 boards while Jarrod West dished out a team-high 5 assists with a pair of steals. As a team, Louisville shot 41.5% from the field, 25% from three and 57.9% from the foul line in the victory.

Furman is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 road games while the over is 6-1 in their last 7 games as an underdog. Louisville is 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a win and 12-4 ATS in their last 16 games following a loss while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games as a favorite.

I get why the Cardinals would be favored at home in this one as they’re a power-6 team. However, Furman is no stranger to playing and taking down the big boys on a regular basis. I expect Furman to make Louisville to work for each bucket and for the Cardinals to never be far out of reach from the Paladins. Give me Furman and the points in this one.
