The VMI Keydets and the Presbyterian Blue Hose meet Friday in college basketball action from Ross E. Templeton Center. The Keydets are coming off a blowout win over Carlow University in their opener. As for the Hose, they lost to Clemson in their first game this week. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

The Keydets are coming off a 13-12 overall record last year, going 7-7 in Southern Conference play. VMI landed around the middle of the standings with that mark. The Keydets beat Furman in the Quarterfinals of the SoCon Tournament but ultimately lost to Mercer in the next game.

VMI didn’t have a ton of issues against Carlow in their first game this year, jumping out to a 58-23 halftime edge on the way to a 111-55 blowout victory. All five starters finished in double-digit points, and Cooper Sisco added 16 more off the bench.

Over on the Presbyterian side, they finished 7-15 last season and 5-12 in the Big South games. The Hose would land just one spot out of the basement in the standings. Presbyterian lost in the First Round of the conference tournament to Hampton 67-65.

The Hose had a nice first half against Clemson in their opener, with a 32-24 lead at the break. Things fell apart afterward however, and Presbyterian would lose 64-53. Brandon Younger and Rayshon Harrison each posted 12 points and four rebounds to lead the team.

Presbyterian is 0-11 ATS in their last 11 on Friday and 1-5 ATS in their last six after an ATS win. The Hose are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 as a home underdog.

Meanwhile, the Keydets are 8-19 ATS in their last 27 Friday games and 6-1 ATS in their last seven as a favorite. VMI is 10-4-1 ATS in their last 15 overall.

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Presbyterian. The Blue Hose played a tough game against Clemson, despite suffering some major shooting woes. Presbyterian managed a 35.6 percent mark from the field and shot just 12.5 percent from 3-point range. The good news is that the Hose collected 38 rebounds and 12 team assists, so the potential is there if the team can get some shots to fall. I like the Blue Hose to take a step forward here and bag a cover.
