The North Carolina Central Eagles and the Memphis Tigers meet Saturday in college basketball action from FedExForum. NC Central is coming off a loss in their opener, falling by 10 points to Richmond. As for the Tigers, they beat Tennessee Tech by 24 points in their first game of the year. Check back all season long for free college baseball picks at Sports Chat Place.

NC Central managed to go just 5-9 last year with a 3-5 mark in MEAC play. The Eagles landed in third place in the Southern Division. After a 1-5 skid to close the regular season, NC Central lost 87-58 to South Carolina State in the MEAC Tournament.

NC Central faced off against Richmond in their first game of the 2021-22 season. The Eagles had a 36-31 edge at the break, but fell behind in the second half and lost 70-60. Alex Caldwell was the team’s leading scorer with 17 points, six boards and five assists.

Over on the Memphis side, they went 20-8 overall last year with a 11-4 mark in the AAC. The Tigers lost to Houston in the conference tourney but earned an invite to the NIT. Memphis beat Dayton, Boise State, Colorado State and Mississippi State on the way to the championship.

In their opener game versus Tennessee Tech this week, the Tigers built up a 52-41 lead at halftime and cruised to an 89-65 win. Emoni Bates led with 17 points, while both Jalen Duren and Lester Quinones posted 15 points apiece with a combined 13 rebounds.

Memphis is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 at home and 15-3 ATS in their last 18 overall. The Tigers are 5-2 ATS in their last seven on Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 14-5 ATS in their last 19 after an ATS win and 2-8 ATS in their last 10 overall. NC Central is 7-1 ATS in the last eight Saturday games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Memphis here, but it’s a thick line. The Tigers shot a scorching 59.3 percent from the field in their opener game, making 13 of 26 (50 percent) from 3-point range. Memphis pulled down 34 rebounds and 21 team assists with 11 blocks and 10 steals as well. It was a nice performance overall outside of 17 turnovers.

As for NC Central, they had a few bright spots in their first game but I don’t think they’ve got the offensive legs to keep up in this one.
