Purdue vs Indiana State College Basketball Picks, Odds, Predictions 11/12/2021

The Indiana State Sycamores and the Purdue Boilermakers meet in college basketball action from Mackey Arena on Friday night.

The Indiana State Sycamores will be looking to build on a season-opening 81-77 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay last time out. Cooper Neese led the Sycamores with 18 points on 6 of 15 shooting with a pair of threes, 6 rebounds and a pair of steals while Kailex Stephens had 16 points on 7 of 13 shooting with 13 rebounds for the double-double. Cameron Henry and Xavier Bledson each had 15 points to cap off the scoring in double figures for the Sycamores, with Henry chipping in a team-high 4 assists and a pair of steals. As a team, Indiana State shot 51.8% from the field, 33.3% from three and 81.8% from the foul line in the win.

The Purdue Boilermakers will be out to build on their 96-67 win over Bellarmine last time out. Sasha Stefanovic led the Boilers with 23 points on 6 of 8 shooting with 5 threes while Zach Edey had 16 points with a team-high 9 rebounds and Isaiah Thompson added 15 points with 5 threes of his own as well as a team-high 4 assists. Brandon Newman added 14 points with 3 triples and Jadan Ivey added 11 points with 3 assists and a pair of steals to cap off the scoring in double figures for Purdue in the win. Caleb First also added 9 rebounds while Ethan Morton had 3 assists with 4 steals and Trevion Williams added 7 boards as well. As a team, Purdue shot 50% from the field, 44.4% from three and 82.8% from the foul line in the win.

Indiana State is 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games while the under is 16-5 in their last 21 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600. Purdue is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games as a favorite and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall while the over is 21-6 in their last 27 home games.

These are two teams that had solid wins and covers in their respective openers, but realistically, I don’t know if the Sycamores can hold up to the rigors that they’re going to be up against with Purdue in this one. With that said, this is a ton to give up considering that the Sycamores hung with Purdue and actually covered on the road in last year’s meeting and I just think that if the line was closer to the teens it would be easier to get behind Purdue. But up over 20, I have to take the points with Indiana State in this one.
