The Saint Louis Billikens host the Eastern Illinois Panthers in college basketball action from the Chaifetz Arena on Friday night.

The Eastern Illinois Panthers will be looking to rebound from an 80-56 loss to Northwestern in their last game. Jermain Hamlin led the Panthers with 10 points on 4 of 11 shooting with 7 rebounds as the lone double-digit scorer for Eastern Illinois in the losing effort, chipping in 5 blocks as well. Rodolfo Rufino-Bolis added 8 points to match his team-high 8 rebounds as well in the defeat while Kejuan Clements chipped in 5 points, 6 rebounds and a team-high 7 assists in the losing effort. As a team, Eastern Illinois shot 37.3% from the field, 30% from three and 75% from the foul line in the defeat.

The Saint Louis Billikens will look to add to their 2-0 start after a 127-54 win over subdivision Harris-Stowe last time out. Gibson Jimerson leads the Billikens in scoring with 19 PPG while Jordan Nesbitt is chipping in 17 PPG and Francis Okoro is averaging 11 PPG with a team-high 7.5 RPG. Marten Linssen is averaging 10 PPG to cap off the group of players averaging double-digits while Yuri Collins is averaging 9 PPG as well as team-highs of 11 APG and 3.5 SPG this season. As a team, Saint Louis is averaging 111.5 PPG on 58% shooting from the field, 48.9% from three and 72.2% from the foul line while allowing 57.5 PPG on 36.1% from the field and 34.3% from three this season.

Eastern Illinois is 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 and 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games against a team with a winning record while the under is 9-2 in their last 11 road games against a team with a winning home record. Saint Louis is 4-1-1 ATS in their last 6 home games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games following a win while the under is 13-4 in their last 17 games as a road underdog.

This is a tough game to figure out because we know the Billikens are the better team, but wins over a subdivision team and Central Arkansas don’t really tell us a whole lot. With that said, Eastern Illinois was beat up by Northwestern and I genuinely think that Saint Louis is a level above Northwestern even in a non-power 6 conference. I think the Billikens add another win to their column so I’ll lay it and play it with Saint Louis here.
