The Hofstra Pride and the Iona Gaels meet in college basketball action from the Hynes Athletic Center on Tuesday night.

The Hofstra Pride come into this game looking to build on a 73-63 win over Duquesne in their last matchup. Zach Cooks leads the Pride in scoring with 27.5 PPG along with 5.5 RPG and 3 APG while Aaron Estrada has 14.5 PPG with 6.5 RPG and 3 APG and Darlinstone Dubar has 11.5 PPG with 6.5 RPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Hofstra up to this point in the season. Abayomi Iyiola has 9 PPG and a team-high 9 RPG while Caleb Burgess has a team-high 5 APG this season. As a team, Hofstra is averaging 74 PPG on 40.8% shooting from the field, 34.4% from three and 76.9% from the foul line while allowing 73 PPG on 41.2% shooting from the field and 27.1% from three this season.

The Iona Gaels will be out to add to a 90-87 OT win over Harvard last time out to climb to 2-0 on the year. Nelly Junior Joseph leads the Gaels in scoring with 20 PPG along with 5.5 RPG while Tyson Jolly has 7.5 PPG and a team-high 3.5 APG and Dylan van Eyck has 16.5 PPG with team-highs of 6.5 RPG and 3.5 APG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for Iona up to this point in the season. Elijah Joiner also has 9 PPG with 3 RPG and 2.5 APG as well this season. As a team, Iona is averaging 77.5 PPG on 45.1% shooting from the field, 21.9% from three and 74.2% from the foul line while allowing 70 PPG on 43.4% shooting from the field and 20.5% from three this season.

Hofstra is 9-2-1 ATS in their last 12 games as an underdog and 20-5-2 ATS in their last 27 games against a team with a winning percentage above .600 while the over is 5-1 in their last 6 games following a win. Iona is 7-1-1 ATS in their last 9 games overall and 5-1-1 ATS in their last 7 games following a win while the under is 6-2 in their last 8 games overall.

This is going to be an interesting affair as the Pride have looked good against some solid competition while Iona is unbeaten and has a hall of fame coach, but narrowly beat Harvard last time out. I’m leaning towards the Gaels mainly because they’re at home and I just like the direction that Rick Pitino has this program going. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hofstra banged out a cover, but I’m leaning Iona here.
