The St. Bonaventure Bonnies and the Boise State Broncos meet Thursday in college basketball action from TD Arena. St. Bonaventure is 2-0 so far following wins over Siena and Canisius. As for Boise State, they’re 1-1 this season and coming off a loss to UC Irvine. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

St. Bonaventure took on Siena in their opener this year. After a spotty first half and a slim 36-32 lead, the Bonnies took off from there in an eventual 75-47 blowout win. Jaren Holmes and Kyle Lofton were the lead scorers there, with 17 points apiece and a combined 10 boards.

In game two, the Bonnies took on Canisius. St. Bonaventure had another slow first half and went into the break down 31-26. The Bonnies eventually pulled out a 69-60 win, though. Holmes and Lofton each scored 17 points again with a combined 14 rebounds.

Over on the Boise State side, their first matchup was against Utah Valley. The Broncos scored 38 points in each half on the way to a 76-56 win. Devonaire Doutrive led the team with his 18 points, six rebounds and two assists.

In game two the Broncos’ offensive production slowed against UC Irvine. Boise State put up just 25 points in each half during a 58-50 loss. Marcus Shaver finished on 14 points, and Emmanuel Akot put up 11 points with seven rebounds.

Boise State is 6-2 ATS in their last eight Thursday games and 16-5-1 ATS in their last 22 after an ATS loss. The Broncos are 6-2 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games.

Meanwhile, the Bonnies are 14-5-1 ATS in their last 20 overall and 7-1 ATS in their last eight neutral-site games. St. Bonaventure is 3-0-1 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss.

PICK: I’m probably going to take the Bonnies here, but staying away. St. Bonaventure hasn’t been all that convincing just yet, and they’ve taken a while to get going in both games so far. The Bonnies ended up shooting 43.4 percent from the floor with a slim rebound edge 37-36 in their last outing. St. Bonaventure also shot a cold 2-of-15 from 3-point range.

As for Boise, they were struggling on offense (32.2 percent shooting) as well in their last outing. Both teams need to ratchet up the offense here, and I think St. Bonaventure will come out ahead.
