The Western Kentucky Hilltoppers and the Memphis Tigers meet Friday in college basketball action from FedExForum. Western Kentucky is sitting at 1-2 so far on the year. The Hilltoppers are coming off a loss to South Carolina in their last game. As for Memphis, they’re doing well at 3-0 so far. The Tigers beat Saint Louis in their most recent outing. Western Kentucky matched up against Alabama State in their first game this season. The Hilltoppers fought well in that one and pulled off a 79-74 win. Game two didn’t go as well for WKU, however; the Hilltoppers had a good second half but ultimately lost 73-69 to Minnesota.

Game three against South Carolina turned into another frustrating loss for the Hilltoppers. WKU scored just 24 points in the first half during a 75-64 defeat. The top scorer for Western Kentucky was Josh Anderson with his 16 points, four rebounds and two assists.

Over on the Memphis side, it’s been a nice run so far at 3-0. The Tigers handled Tennessee Tech well in their opener, surging to an 89-65 win. Game two against NC Central went well for Memphis also. That one was a 90-51 blowout victory.

On Tuesday against Saint Louis, Memphis kept their win streak going. The Tigers held the Billikens to just 27 first-half points and went on to a dominant 90-74 victory. Tyler Harris posted 18 points in that one, and Emoni Bates added 16 with two rebounds.

The Tigers are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 at home and 13-3 ATS in their last 16 after an ATS win. Memphis is 17-4 ATS in their last 21 games overall.

Meanwhile, the Hilltoppers are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 2-9 ATS in the last 11 Friday games. The over is 4-1 in WKU’s last five Friday games.

PICK: I’m going to stay with Memphis here. The Tigers have been quite impressive over their first trio, and haven’t really faced a challenge just yet. Memphis put up a nice 54.4 percent shooing from the floor in their last game, collecting 48 rebounds along the way.

As for WKU, they’re coming off just 38.3 percent shooting with 28 rebounds against South Carolina and haven’t found their rhythm yet. I don’t see the Hilltoppers keeping up in this one.
