The UT-Arlington Mavericks and the North Texas Mean Green meet in college basketball action from UNT Coliseum on Thursday night.

The UT-Arlington Mavericks will be looking to bounce back from an 80-71 overtime loss to Abilene Christian last time out. David Azore leads the Mavericks in scoring with 14 PPG along with 4.7 RPG as the lone double-digit scorer for UT-Arlington through three games so far this season while Shemar Wilson has 9.7 PPG as well as 5.3 RPG. Pedro Castro has a team-high 6 RPG while Javon Levi’s dished out a team-high 5.3 APG as well this season. As a team, UT-Arlington is averaging 73.3 PPG on 50.9% shooting from the field, 27.3% from three and 67.4% from the foul line while allowing 81 PPG on 38.3% shooting from the field and 36.9% from three this season.

The North Texas Mean Green will be looking to bounce back from a 69-66 loss to Buffalo in their last game. Tyler Perry leads North Texas in scoring with 20 PPG along with 3 APG while Mardrez McBride has 15 PPG with 4 RPG. Thomas Bell’s got 13 PPG and a team-high 10 RPG to lead the Mean Green on the glass while averaging a double-double per game and Abou Ousmane has 10 PPG with 5.5 RPG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for North Texas up to this point in the season. Rubin Jones also has a team-high 4 APG as well this season. As a team, North Texas is averaging 75 PPG on 45.8% shooting from the field, 33.3% from three and 63.2% from the foul line while allowing 61 PPG on 46.1% shooting from the field and 41.2% from three this season.

UT-Arlington is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 Thursday games. North Texas is 14-2 ATS in their last 16 home games against a team with a losing road record and 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games overall while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400.

I get the case that could be made either way here, but realistically I think the best option is the under here. This feels like a low total granted, but the Mavericks have been subpar against the real teams on their schedule, and the only reason the numbers looked good against Abilene Christian was because of the overtime period. North Texas is usually a defense-first team as it is, so give me the under in a first to 60 kind of game.
