The Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions and the Portland Pilots meet in college basketball action from the Chiles Center on Thursday night.

The Arkansas Pine Bluff Golden Lions will be looking to bounce back from an 85-45 loss to Wyoming in their last game. Kylen Milton leads the Golden Lions with 16 PPG while Trey Sampson and Shawn Williams each have 14.7 PPG to make up the trio of double-digit scorers for UAPB through their first three games of the season, with Sampson logging 6.7 RPG while Williams has a team-high 3 APG this season. Brandon Brown also has a team-high 8 RPG as well for the Golden Lions this season. As a team, Arkansas Pine Bluff is averaging 64.3 PPG on 35.4% shooting from the field, 26.5% from three and 81.3% from the foul line while allowing 88.7 PPG on 57.6% shooting from the field and 38.3% from three this season.

The Portland Pilots will be out to build on their 62-58 win over Alcorn State in their last game. Chris Austin has 18 PPG while Tyler Robertosn has 19 PPG after just one appearance this season. Moses Wood has 14 PPG with a team-high 7 RPG and Mike Meadows has 11.7 PPG with 6.7 RPG and a team-high 5.3 APG to make up the group of double-digit scorers for Portland so far this season. As a team, Portland is averaging 81.3 PPG on 46% shooting from the field, 32.8% from three and 80% from the foul line while allowing 70.7 PPG on 39.4% shooting from the field and 30.1% from three this season.

Arkansas Pine Bluff is 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following an ATS loss and 5-2-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up loss while the over is 4-1 in their last 5 games overall. Portland is 2-10 ATS in their last 12 games overall and 6-19-1 ATS in their last 26 games against a team with a losing record while the over is 5-2 in their last 7 games overall.

I’m not looking to back either of these teams truth be told, as UAPB has been a whipping boy for teams in the past while Portland has been a bottom feeder in the WCC in the last couple of years. Instead, I’m going to side with the over. I don’t trust the offenses for either side, but I trust the defense even less and this just feels like a game where both teams could get into the 70s, pushing us over the number in the process.
