The UAB Blazers and the South Carolina Gamecocks meet in college basketball action from Colonial Life Arena on Thursday night.

The UAB Blazers will be looking to build on their 98-61 win over subdivision Rhodes in their last matchup. Jordan Walker has 21 PPG through his first two games of the year while Quan Jackson has 16 PPG this season. Michael Ertel has 12.3 PPG with a team-high 2.3 APG while Tavin Lovan has 11.5 PPG to cap off the group of double-digit scorers for UAB through their first three games of the season. Trey Jemison also has 7.3 PPG, a team-high 6.7 RPG and 2.3 APG as well this season. As a team, UAB is averaging 95 PPG on 52.8% shooting from the field, 35.1% from three and 64.7% from the foul line while allowing 69.7 PPG on 46.8% shooting from the field and 42.4% from three this season.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will be looking to build on a 75-64 win over Western Kentucky last time out. Jermaine Couisnard leads the Gamecocks in scoring with 15.7 PPG along with a team-high 3 APG in addition to 5 RPG this season. Wildens Levesque has 11.3 PPG with a team-high 9.7 RPG while Erik Stevenson has 10 PPG and 5.7 RPG to cap off the trio of Gamecocks averaging double figures through their first three games of the season. Devin Carter also has 9.7 PPG and James Reese V has 9.3 PPG this season. As a team, South Carolina is averaging 71.7 PPG on 40.1% shooting from the field, 23.6% from three and 67.9% from the foul line while allowing 63.3 PPG on 40.3% shooting from the field and 32.9% from three this season.

UAB is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games while the under is 9-3-1 in their last 13 road games. South Carolina is 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games overall and 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 Thursday games while the under is 4-0 in their last 4 games overall.

I get why you’d look at South Carolina as a home dog as it’s not often you see a power 6 team as a home dog against a mid-major, but UAB’s been solid offensively to start the year and to be honest, I just don’t know if the Gamecocks have the horses to keep up with UAB in this one. Give me the Blazers and the low line here.
