The Northeastern Huskies and the Duquesne Dukes meet in college basketball action from the Virgin Islands Sports & Fitness Center on Friday afternoon.

The Northeastern Huskies will be hoping to build on a 49-48 win over Boston U in their last game. Chris Doherty has a team-high 14.7 PPG and 8.3 RPG to lead the Huskies in scoring and on the glass while Jahmyl Telfort has 12.3 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for Northeastern so far this season. Shaquille Waters also has 8 PPG and 6 RPG while also posting a team-high 3 APG on the year. As a team, Northeastern is averaging 57 PPG on 40.5% shooting from the field, 28.1% from three and 68.8% from the foul line while allowing 65.3 PPG on 43.5% shooting from the field and 31.3% from three this season.

The Duquesne Dukes will hope to bounce back from a 63-59 loss at the hands of Weber State in their last game. Kevin Easley leads the Dukes in scoring with 13.3 PPG along with 5.7 RPG while Jackie Johnson III has 11 PPG as the only other double-digit scorer for the Dukes this season. Tre Williams also has 9.7 PPG with a team-high 6.7 RPG while Amir Spears has 9.5 PPG this season. As a team, Duquesne is averaging 65 PPG on 37.6% shooting from the field, 27.6% from three and 70.8% from the foul line while allowing 65.7 PPG on 49% shooting from the field and 34% from three this season.

Northeastern is 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 Friday games while the under is 4-1 in their last 5 games against a team with a winning percentage below .400. Duquesne is 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games overall and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 neutral site games while the over is 4-0 in their last 4 Friday games.

I get the case that could be made for the Huskies here, but realistically, the offense hasn’t looked good at all for Northeastern and while both teams are allowing around 65 PPG, when those kinds of numbers are similar, I’ll always take the team that’s scoring 8 points more per game like Duquesne is. I think the Dukes get the job done in this one so I’ll side with Duquesne here.
