The Northern Kentucky Norse and the DePaul Blue Demons meet Friday in college basketball action from Wintrust Arena. Northern Kentucky is 2-2 so far this year and coming off a close loss to Western Illinois. As for DePaul, they’re 4-0 and fresh off a win over Western Illinois as well. Northern Kentucky didn’t have any issues against Wheeling Jesuit in their opener in an 82-54 loss. The Norse took their first loss in game two against UNC Greensboro 70-69, then eked out a win 74-73 over Eastern Michigan in game three.

In the Western Illinois game, Northern Kentucky blew a 37-23 halftime lead on the way to a 69-67 loss. Leading scorer Hubertas Pivorius put up 20 points, and David Bohm added 14 points with five boards.

Over on the DePaul side, they rolled past Coppin State 97-72 in their opener this year. The Demons took another big win over Central Michigan 99-66 in game two, then powered out a tight 73-70 win over Rutgers in their third outing.

In the Western Illinois game, the Demons outscored the Leathernecks 48-44 in the second half on the way to an exciting 84-80 win. Javon Freeman-Liberty led the team on a double-double with 33 points and 11 rebounds.

DePaul is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Friday games and the over is 5-0 in the last five home games. The over is 5-0 in the Demons’ last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Norse are 0-4 ATS in their last four overall and 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight road games. The over is 10-4-1 in Northern Kentucky’s last 15 overall.

PICK: I’m going to stick with DePaul. The Blue Demons did a pretty solid job against Western Illinois in their last game, shooting 44.4 percent from the field with 45 rebounds. DePaul was lacking in 3-pointers (3-of-11 for 27.3 percent) and assists (nine) but still got the win.

As for the Norse, they had a bad second half in their Leathernecks game. That’s what really did NKU in, as they had a fairly well-rounded group effort otherwise. All things considered this should be a pretty fun matchup but I still like DePaul on the cover.
