The Arkansas-Pine Bluff Golden Lions and the Pacific Tigers meet Friday in college basketball action from Alex G. Spanos Center. AR-Pine Bluff is winless so far this year and coming off a loss to UCSB. As for the Tigers, they’re 3-3 this season and coming off a win over Chicago State. AR-Pine Bluff has had a rough season so far. The Lions’ first three losses of the year came to Creighton 90-77, Colorado State 91-71 and Wyoming 85-45. After that came two more defeats to Portland and Seattle.
AR-Pine Bluff dropped to 0-6 on the year following their last outing versus UC Santa Barbara. The Golden Lions held up in the first half but fell 48-22 after halftime in an 86-58 result. Kylen Milton put up 17 points with five rebounds.
Over on the Pacific side, they’ve alternated wins with losses so far this year. The Tigers started out at 2-3 with wins over Hawaii-Hilo and Stan State alongside losses to Northern Colorado, Hawaii and UTEP.
In game six the Tigers got their record back to .500 on the year with a win over Chicago State. Pacific jumped out to a 33-12 edge at halftime and went on to take it 74-58. Both Luke Avdalovic and Jordan Bell notched 12 points apiece.
The Tigers are 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 Friday games and 1-4 ATS in their last five at home. Pacific is 0-5 ATS in their last five overall.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 8-0 ATS in their last eight Friday games and 5-1 ATS in their last six after an ATS loss. The over is 6-2 in ARPB’s last eight overall.
PICK: I’m going to stick with Pacific in this one. The Tigers have had an up-and-down season so far but they played well against Chicago State in their last game. Pacific shot 51.9 percent from the field with 10-of-24 3-pointers made and 36 rebounds.
As for AR-Pine Bluff, they’ve scored just 114 combined points over their last two outings and have given up 77 or more points in each game this year. If Pacific can shoot even reasonably well here I think they’ll be fine on a cover.
