The Louisiana Tech Bulldogs and the NC State Wolfpack meet Saturday in college basketball action from PNC Arena. Louisiana Tech is 4-1 so far this year. The Bulldogs took out UL-Monroe in their last game. As for NC State, they’re 4-1 as well and fresh off a win over Texas Southern. Louisiana Tech had a rough matchup against a tough Alabama team in their opener, and predictably lost 93-64. The Bulldogs hit a win streak after that however, taking out Jackson State, Jarvis Christian and Northwestern State.
In game five against UL Monroe, the Bulldogs picked up another win. LA Tech scored 46 points in the first half and 50 more in the second during a 96-74 result. Keaston Willis topped the team with his 22 points, three rebounds and four assists.
Over on the NC State side, they got off to a 3-0 start this season. Those wins came over Bucknell, Colgate and Central Connecticut State. The Wolfpack lost their first game last Wednesday against Oklahoma State.
Back on Sunday against Texas Southern, NC State bagged another win. The Wolfpack had a 31-28 halftime deficit and turned it into a 65-57 victory. Dereon Seabron topped the team on a double-double with 21 points and 11 boards.
NC State is 2-12 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games and 0-6 ATS in their last six overall. The Wolfpack are 0-4 ATS in their last four after an ATS loss.
Meanwhile, the Bulldogs are 7-1 ATS in their last eight after an ATS win and 8-1 ATS in the last nine road games. LA Tech is 21-8 ATS in the last 29 overall.
PICK: I’m going with NC State here. The Wolfpack need a good showing here after a spotty game against Texas Southern, though. NC State shot 40 percent from the floor in that one, but were out-rebounded 47-41 and hit a cold 4-of-22 from 3-point range.
As for LA Tech, they shot a nice 54.7 percent from the floor against UL-Monroe in their last outing, picking up 34 rebounds and 20 assists along the way. I like this one to be a higher-scoring game, with LA Tech pushing NC State the whole time. Should be a good matchup.
