The Stanford Cardinal will travel to the CU Events Center to take on the Colorado Buffaloes this Sunday night in College Basketball action.

The Stanford Cardinal improved to 4-2 on the season after defeating the North Carolina A&T Aggies, 79-65, this past Tuesday. Stanford was outstanding on the defensive end against North Carolina A&T and was able to pull away after a 13-0 Cardinal run gave Stanford a 66-49 lead with 5:57 left in regulation. Stanford shot 43.8% from the field & 32.0% from beyond the arc while holding North Carolina A&T to just 33.8% shooting from the field & 29.4% from beyond the arc. Stanford lost the turnover battle by a 16-11 margin, however, outrebounded the Aggies by a 51-31 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Cardinal was Max Murrell who had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assists, & 2 blocks.

On the season, Stanford is averaging 68.5 ppg on 43.6% shooting from the field. The Cardinal are averaging 6.7 three-pointers per game on 33.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Stanford has been led by Harrison Ingram (12.7 ppg, 7.5 rpg, 3.2 apg), Jaiden Delaire (10.8 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.2 apg), Maxime Raynaud (8.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.2 apg), & Michael O’Connell (5.8 ppg, 1.8 rpg, 3.3 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Stanford is allowing their opponents to average 68.5 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field. The Cardinal have a rebound margin of 10.2 and a turnover margin of -1.8.

The Colorado Buffaloes won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating the Brown Bears, 54-52, this past Monday. Colorado trailed by a 30-24 margin going into halftime, however, the defense was outstanding in the 2nd half and the Buffaloes were able to take the lead for good after an Evan Battey layup gave Colorado a 51-50 lead with 1:08 left in regulation. Colorado shot 40.0% from the field & 11.1% from beyond the arc while holding Brown to just 30.2% shooting from the field & 17.4% from beyond the arc. Colorado lost the turnover battle by a 16-9 margin, however, outrebounded Brown by a 39-33 margin in the victory. Leading the way for the Buffaloes was Jabari Walker who had a double-double with 10 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, & 1 steal.

On the season, Colorado is averaging 78.7 ppg on 47.4% shooting from the field. The Buffaloes are averaging 5.3 three-pointers per game on 34.8% shooting from beyond the arc. The Cardinal are 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall & 0-4 ATS in their last 4 road games. The Buffaloes are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games and 1-7 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Both teams come into with solid records, however, I don’t think Stanford & Colorado are going to have great seasons based on what we’ve seen so far. Stanford hasn’t played much in terms of competition outside of Santa Clara & Baylor which they lost by a combined score of 174-120 and currently ranks just 247th in scoring offense & 201st in FG%. Colorado was barley able to pick up wins against Montana State, Duquesne, and Brown and although they have been putting up points, this is a team that has struggled with turnovers and is averaging just 5.3 three-pointers per game. I don’t like the game line on this one at all, however, as I expect this to be a low-scoring game as Stanford is going to struggle on the offensive end in what is generally a tough place to play, I think the best play here is the Under. Good Luck!
