The Lafayette Leopards and the Columbia Lions meet Monday in college basketball action from Levien Gym. Lafayette enters this matchup at 1-4 so far. The Leopards are coming off their first win over Rutgers. As for Columbia, they’re 2-4 this season and lost to Boston College in their last game. Lafayette couldn’t get much going in their first four games, losing each to start out at 0-4. The Leopards lost to Syracuse 97-63, Cornell 90-85, Penn 85-57 and Duke 88-55 in succession before their first win of the year.

Lafayette managed a victory over Rutgers in their last game to finally get into the W column. The Leopards were down 29-28 at the break but outscored the Knights by three from there in a 53-51 win. Leo O’Boyle led the team on 18 points with four rebounds.

Over on the Lions’ side, they kicked off the season with a pair of losses to Fordham 77-67 and Marist 82-67. Two wins over Binghamton and Mount St. Vincent followed before a loss to Lehigh 79-72 back on Tuesday.

In Friday’s matchup against Boston College, the Lions took another loss. Columbia was down 40-33 at the break and didn’t get any closer in a 73-60 result. Liam Murphy led the way on 19 points with four boards.

The Lions are 2-6 ATS in their last eight at home and 2-8-1 ATS in their last 11 after an ATS win. Columbia is 0-4 ATS in their last four Monday games.
Meanwhile, the Lions are 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine overall. Columbia is 5-0 ATS in their last five Monday games.

PICK: I’m probably sticking with Columbia. The Lions need a good bounce-back from the loss to Boston College, though. Columbia shot 42.3 percent in that one, but were out-rebounded 48-28 and shot just 8-of-15 (53.3 percent) from the line. As for Lafayette, they get credit for pushing Rutgers around on the boards 42-29 and shooting a decent 41.3 (to Rutgers’ 28.6) in the win. Lafayette had a ton of turnovers (23), though. This should be a fun matchup but I think Columbia has the edge on a cover/win.
