Morehead State vs Georgia Southern 12/1/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Georgia Southern Eagles and the Morehead State Eagles meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Ellis Johnson Arena. Georgia Southern has lost their last two games to Wofford and Georgia Tech. As for Morehead State, they’ve won consecutive games, most recently over UMKC. Georgia Southern managed wins in their first four games this year. Those victories came over Ball State, South Florida, Bob Jones and Hampton. The Eagles then lost two versus Wofford and Georgia Tech. 

In the Georgia Tech game, Georgia Southern blew a 39-27 halftime lead with a 34-20 second-half deficit in an eventual 61-59 loss. Cam Bryant and Elijah McCadden each notched 14 points with seven rebounds and three assists apiece. 

Over on the Morehead State side, they went 2-2 over their first four games this year with losses to Auburn and UAB alongside wins over KY Christian and Transylvania. Since then it’s been a loss to Mississippi State and victories over Arkansas State and UMKC. 

In the matchup against UMKC back on Saturday, Morehead State jumped ahead 34-25 at the break and held on for the win 70-62. Skyelar Potter put up 20 points with four boards, while Johni Broome had 15 points and nine rebounds. 

Morehead State is 1-10 ATS in their last 11 Wednesday games and 10-4 ATS in their last 14 after an ATS win. The under is 6-1 in Morehead’s last seven Wednesday games. 

Meanwhile, GA Southern is 2-5 ATS in their last seven after an ATS win and 4-1 ATS in their last five overall. The under is 5-1 in GA Southern’s last six road games. 

PICK: I’m going to try Morehead in this one. Although they had a spotty 46-point game against Mississippi State, Morehead State has played pretty well over their last five games. The Eagles have hit 70 or more points in five of their last six outings as well. 

As for Georgia Southern, they got off to a nice start in their first four games but have hit a rut in their last pair with just 111 combined points. If GA Southern doesn’t step on the gas offensively here I don’t see them covering.
