The Brown Bears and the UMass Lowell River Hawks meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Costello Athletic Center. Brown is 2-2 in their last four games and coming off a win over Quinnipiac. As for UMass Lowell, they’re 5-2 this year and beat Fisher College in their last game. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Brown kicked off the year on a 3-1 win with wins over Salve Regina, Central CT State and JWU-Providence. Since then it’s been a 2-3 run for the Bears with losses to Creighton, Colorado and Bryant alongside wins over Bradley and Quinnipiac.

In the victory over Quinnipiac on Sunday, Brown posted a 34-29 halftime edge and went 38-32 from there in a 72-61 win. Kino Lilly topped the team on 24 points, and David Mitchell doubled up on 11 points and 10 boards.

Over on the UMass Lowell side, they posted a 4-1 run to open up the year. The wins came over Rivier, Dayton, Central CT State and George Washington. After a loss to UMass the River Hawks took out Fisher College in their last outing.

UMass Lowell didn’t have much trouble versus Fisher. The River Hawks sealed it up with a 67-18 second half and won 101-38 in dominant fashion. Allin Blunt led the way on his 18 points, seven rebounds and one assist.

The River Hawks are 5-1 ATS in their last six Wednesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last five as a favorite. The under is 9-0 in UMass Lowell’s last nine at home.
Meanwhile, the Bears are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 7-2 ATS in their last nine overall. The under is 39-18-1 in the Bears’ last 58 road games.

PICK: I’m going with UMass Lowell. The River Hawks have notched some pretty good offensive outings so far this year. They’ve got 77 or more points in three of the last four outings. UMass Lowell didn’t have a whole lot of issues with scoring against an overmatched Fisher in their last outing, but they’re going to have to push a lot harder to keep up with Brown. The Bears have been at 65 points or below in four of their last five games but I like this one to be a higher-scoring affair.
