The Dartmouth Big Green will travel to Patrick Gymnasium to take on the Vermont Catamounts this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Dartmouth Big Green won their 3rd straight game and improved to 3-1 on the season after defeating the Bryant Bulldogs, 63-61 (OT), this past Sunday. Dartmouth allowed Bryant to fight back from a 46-39 deficit with just 3:55 left in regulation to force OT, however, the Big Green was able to pull off the victory after Aaryn Rai made a game-winning layup with just :01 seconds left in OT. Dartmouth shot 36.4% from the field & 37.9% from beyond the arc while holding Bryant to 35.3% shooting from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Big Green was Brendan Barry who had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, & 6 steals.

On the season, Dartmouth is averaging 75.8 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field. The Big Green are averaging 11.8 three-pointers per game on 36.7% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Dartmouth has been led by Brendan Barry (14.8 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 2.3 spg), Taurus Samuels (12.8 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.8 apg), Cam Krystkowiak (9.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.5 apg), & Aaryn Rai (7.3 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.5 spg).

Defensively, Dartmouth is allowing their opponents to average 67.0 ppg on 41.7% shooting from the field. The Big Green have a rebound margin of -6.0 and a turnover margin of 6.0.

The Vermont Catamounts had their 2-game winning streak snapped and dropped to 5-3 on the season after being defeated by the UNC Greensboro Spartans, 54-51, this past Saturday. Vermont struggled offensively from beyond the arc and could not fight back after the Spartans took a 54-49 lead with just 1:00 minute left in regulation. Vermont shot 41.5% from the field & 16.0% from beyond the arc while allowing UNC Greensboro to shoot 42.6% from the field & 38.1% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Catamounts was Ryan Davis who had 17 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 2 blocks, & 2 steals.

On the season, Vermont is averaging 63.1 ppg on 41.5% shooting from the field. The Catamounts are averaging 6.4 three-pointers per game on 25.2% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Vermont has been led by Ryan Davis (16.9 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 1.1 apg, 1.6 bpg), Ben Shungu (12.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.0 spg), Isaiah Powell (11.3 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 2.3 apg), & Justin Mazzulla (6.8 ppg, 2.6 rpg, 1.9 apg).

Defensively, Vermont is holding their opponents to an average of 56.9 ppg on 38.6% shooting from the field. The Catamounts have a rebound margin of 0.9 and a turnover margin of 3.9.

The Big Green are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Catamounts are 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a road winning % of greater than .600 and just 3-13 ATS in their last 16 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

Vermont is once against the team to beat in the American East, however, the Catamounts in my opinion aren’t as strong as we’ve seen in year’s past and have struggled on the offensive end to begin the season as they come into this game ranked just t-312th in scoring offense, 269th in FG%, & 344th in 3P-FG%. Dartmouth lost by 16 to Boston College to start the season, however, the Big Green has looked impressive since which includes impressive road wins against Georgetown & Bryant. Dartmouth has been balanced on both ends of the court and have been great in winning the turnover battle, ranking 20th in turnover margin, and as I think Dartmouth will be able to keep this a low-scoring, competitive game, I think the play here is to take Dartmouth and the points. Good Luck!
