The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will travel to Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena to take on the TCU Horned Frogs this Thursday night in College Basketball action.

The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles improved to 4-3 on the season after defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane, 87-80, this past Monday. Oral Roberts led by a 45-40 margin at halftime and was able to pull away late after taking a 79-75 lead with 1:41 left in regulation. Oral Roberts shot 47.3% from the field & 46.3% from beyond the arc while allowing Tulsa to shoot 47.7% from the field & 50.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Max Abmas who had 38 points, 3 rebounds, 6 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Oral Roberts is averaging 87.4 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles are averaging 13.6 three-pointers per game on 38.8% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oral Roberts has been led by Max Abmas (22.3 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.0 spg), Issac McBride (12.0 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.2 apg), DeShang Weaver (10.9 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.6 bpg), & Carlos Jurgens (8.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.0 spg).

Defensively, Oral Roberts is allowing their opponents to an average of 66.3 ppg on 40.8% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles have a rebound margin of 7.6 and a turnover margin of 4.4.

The TCU Horned Frogs won their 2nd straight game and improved to 5-1 on the season after defeating the Austin Peay Governors, 68-51, this past Monday. TCU was outstanding on the defensive end against Austin Peay and was able to pull away in the 2nd half after a 17-4 run to start the 2nd half gave the Horned Frogs a 51-30 lead with 13:58 left in regulation. TCU shot 39.7% from the field & 23.8% from beyond the arc while holding Austin Peay to just 35.8% from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Horned Frogs was Eddie Lampkin who had a double-double with 12 points, 12 rebounds, & 2 assits.

On the season, TCU is averaging 71.7 ppg on 42.1% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs are averaging 5.7 three-pointers per game on 28.1% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, TCU has been led by Mike Miles (16.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.2 spg), Emanuel Miller (10.8 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 1.5 spg), Micah Peavy (7.7 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.2 apg), & Damion Baugh (6.7 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 3.0 apg, 1.3 spg).

Defensively, TCU is holding their opponents to an average of 60.3 ppg on 39.5% shooting from the field. The Horned Frogs have a rebound margin of 11.7 and a turnover margin of 1.3.

The Golden Eagles are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win & 10-1 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Horned Frogs are 0-3-1 ATS in their last 4 games overall & 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 games following a straight up win.

Oral Roberts has struggled a bit more than we expected to start the season, however, there is no questioning that Max Abmas and the Golden Eagles offense can put up plenty of points as they come into this game ranked 9th in scoring offense & 1st in three-pointers made per game. TCU picked up a solid win over Austin Peay earlier this week, however, I’m still not that impressed by what I’ve seen by the Horned Frogs, despite their defense ranking 51st in scoring defense. TCU hasn’t played much in terms of competition to start the season, outside their 21-point loss against Santa Clara, and as I think Oral Roberts will be able to do enough on the offensive end to keep this one competitive, I think the play here is to take Oral Roberts and the points. Good Luck!
