The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles will travel to Sharp Gymnasium to take on the Houston Baptist Huskies this Saturday night in College Basketball action.

The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles dropped to 4-4 on the season after being defeated by the TCU Horned Frogs, 71-63, this past Thursday. Oral Roberts trailed by a 39-29 margin at halftime and could not fight back after the Horned Frogs took a 67-57 lead with 4:45 left in regulation. Oral Roberts shot 40.7% from the field & 45.2% from beyond the arc while allowing TCU to shoot 44.1% from the field & 30.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Golden Eagles was Max Abmas who had 20 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, Oral Roberts is averaging 84.4 ppg on 43.9% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles are averaging 13.6 ppg on 39.5% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Oral Roberts has been led by Max Abmas (22.0 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.0 spg), Issac McBride (11.0 ppg, 1.9 rpg, 1.0 apg), DeShang Weaver (10.6 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 1.6 bpg), & Francis Lacis (8.0 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 2.3 apg, 1.3 spg, 1.1 bpg).

Defensively, Oral Roberts is allowing their opponents to average 66.9 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field. The Golden Eagles have a rebound margin of 5.4 and a turnover margin of 3.2.

The Houston Baptist Huskies snapped a 3-game losing streak and improved to 2-4 on the season after defeating the SW Adventist Knights, 100-62, this past Monday. Houston Baptist had no trouble putting up points against the SW Adventist defense and had no trouble securing the victory after going into halftime with a 51-28 lead. Houston Baptist shot 45.9% from the field & 26.1% from beyond the arc while allowing SW Adventist to shoot 38.2% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Huskies was Darius Lee who had a double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds, 3 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Houston Baptist is averaging 68.3 ppg on 41.7% shooting from the field. The Huskies are averaging 7.5 three-pointers per game on 34.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Houston Baptist has been led by Darius Lee (10.3 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.7 spg), Brycen Long (9.5 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.5 apg), Deshon Proctor (6.5 ppg, 6.7 rpg), & Sam Hofman (6.0 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 1.2 apg).

Defensively, Houston Baptist is allowing their opponents to average 67.0 ppg on 42.9% shooting from the field. The Huskies have a rebound margin of 8.5 and a turnover margin of -3.2.

The Golden Eagles are 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games. The Huskies are 8-20-1 ATS in their last 29 home games & 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win.

Oral Roberts is led by their offense which comes into this game ranked 16th in scoring offense, 1st in three-pointers made per game, & 24th in 3P-FG%. Houston Baptist has been decent defensively, ranking 148th in scoring defense, however, the Huskies offense has struggled a bit and currently rank just t-245th in scoring offense & 274th in FG%.

Oral Roberts hasn’t been able to strong together wins yet this season, however, this is no question a talented team that has an offense that can keep them in games no matter who their competition is. Houston Baptist has struggled offensively this season and as I just don’t see the Huskies offense being able to keep up with Max Abmas and the Golden Eagles offense, I think Oral Roberts pulls away in the 2nd half and cover this large road spread. Good Luck!
