Oklahoma State vs Xavier 12/5/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Xavier Musketeers and the Oklahoma State Cowboys meet Sunday in college basketball action from Gallagher-Iba Arena. Xavier is 6-1 so far this year. The Musketeers are coming off a big win over Central Michigan. As for the Cowboys, they’re 6-2 on the season and fell to Wichita State in their last outing. Xavier began their year on a 4-0 run with wins over Niagara, Kent State, Ohio State and Norfolk State. The Musketeers’ first loss came to Iowa State 82-70, but the team bounced back to beat Virginia Tech and Central Michigan in the next pair. 

In the win over Central Michigan, the Musketeers posted a 41-25 first-half edge and cruised to the 78-45 result. Nate Johnson led the way on 24 points, and Jack Nunge added 10 points with seven rebounds in 21 minutes of work. 

Over on the Oklahoma State side, they beat Texas-Arlington in their opener before a tough loss to Oakland in game two. Since then it’s been wins over Prairie View, UMass Lowell, NC State, Charleston and Oral Roberts before another loss to Wichita State. 

In the Shockers game on Wednesday, Oklahoma State got off to a 31-29 first-half deficit and never recovered in a 60-51 loss. The only double-digit scorer for the Cowboys was Avery Anderson with 17 points, two boards and two assists. 

The Cowboys are 18-8 ATS in their last 26 Sunday games and 12-4-1 ATS in the last 17 after an ATS loss. Oklahoma State is 13-6 ATS in their last 19 overall. 

Meanwhile, the Musketeers are 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games and 4-1 ATS in the last five after a straight-up win. The under is 5-2 in Xavier’s last seven overall. 

PICK: I’m probably going to stick with Xavier in this one. The Musketeers are coming off a solid overall game versus Central Michigan, shooting 50.9 percent from the field, 12-of-26 from 3-point range (46.2 percent) and 19 team assists. Xavier had a 31-36 rebounding deficit (6-10 offensive) and shot just 52.2 percent from the line, though. 

As for OK State, they had a flat offensive game against a tricky Wichita State team in their last outing, but won the rebounding battle 37-33. The Cowboys are going to have to get the offense going to keep up in this one, and I don’t think they’ll quite get there. Should be a fun game to watch, though.
