The Columbia Lions travel to Cotterell Court to take on the Colgate Raiders this Monday night in College Basketball action.

The Columbia Lions snapped a 4-game losing streak and improved to 3-6 on the season after defeating the Maine Black Bears, 77-66, this past Saturday. Columbia led by a 39-25 margin and was able to hold off Maine for the victory after taking a 64-53 lead with 5:42 left in regulation. Columbia shot 51.8% from the field & 27.8% from beyond the arc while allowing Maine to shoot 42.6% from the field & 26.9% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Lions was Patrick Harding who had a double-double with 15 points, 17 rebounds, 1 assist, & steal.

On the season, Columbia is averaging 69.4 ppg on 43.2% shooting from the field. The Lions are averaging 7.2 three-pointers per game on 34.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Columbia has been led by Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa (14.7 ppg, 3.1 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.2 spg), Liam Murphy (12.7 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.1 apg), Josh Odunowo (8.6 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.1 bpg), & Patrick Harding (6.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.7 apg).

Defensively, Columbia is allowing their opponents to average 76.3 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field. The Lions have a rebound margin of -0.1 and a turnover margin of -2.2.

The Colgate Raiders lost their 3rd straight game and dropped to 3-5 on the season after being defeated by the Northeastern Huskies, 74-69, this past Friday. Colgate led by a 37-23 margin at halftime, however, the defense had no answers in the 2nd half for the Northeastern offense and could not fight back after the Huskies took a 67-62 lead with 1:49 left in regulation. Colgate shot 48.1% from the field & 44.4% from beyond the arc while allowing Northeastern to shoot 51.9% from the field & 33.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Raiders was Nelly Cummings who had 18 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Colgate is averaging 77.0 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field. The Raiders are averaging 11.0 three-pointers per game on 37.6% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Colgate has been led by Nelly Cummings (16.6 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.5 spg), Jack Ferguson (11.8 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.4 spg), Ryan Moffatt (9.5 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.6 apg), & Tucker Richardson (8.8 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.8 apg).

Defensively, Colgate is allowing their opponents to average 72.6 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field. The Raiders have a rebound margin of 0.5 and a turnover margin of 0.4.

The Lions are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 Monday games & just 2-9-1 ATS in their last 12 games following a ATS win. The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Columbia has struggled on both ends of the court this season and comes into this game ranked just 232nd in scoring offense, 308th in scoring defense, & 239th in defensive FG%. Colgate has struggled a bit defensively as the Raiders rank just 258th in scoring defense, however, the offense has been impressive as they come into this game ranked t-97th in scoring offense & t-12thin three-pointers made per game.

This is a big spread, however, Colgate is a very talented team that despite being on a 3-game losing streak, still has an impressive 15-point win at Syracuse this season. Columbia is not going to be able to slow down the Colgate offense in this one and as I’m not that scared of the Lions offense, I think Colgate pulls away in the 2nd half in this one and cover this large spread. Good Luck!
