Kansas State vs Marquette 12/8/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Marquette Golden Eagles and the Kansas State Wildcats meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Bramlage Coliseum. Marquette is 7-2 on the year so far. The Eagles are coming off a loss to Wisconsin. As for the Wildcats, they’re sitting at 5-2 and beat Wichita State in their last outing. Marquette got on a roll this year with wins over SIUE, New Hampshire, Illinois, Ole Miss and West Virginia before a loss to St. Bonaventure. After wins over NIU and Jackson State, the Eagles lost again to Wisconsin. 

In Saturday’s matchup versus Wisconsin, the Eagles were within three points at halftime but fell behind in the second during an 89-76 loss. Justin Lewis led the team on 14 points with four rebounds and three assists. 

Over on the Kansas State side, they started out the year at 2-2 with wins over Florida A&M and Omaha prior to losses to Arkansas and Illinois. The Wildcats have since won three straight over North Dakota, Albany and Wichita State. 

In the Wichita State game, Kansas State nursed a two-point lead at the break and were able to hang on for a 65-59 win. Markquis Nowell topped the team on 16 points with eight rebounds and four assists during the victory. 

The Wildcats are 7-15-1 ATS in their last 23 at home and 4-0 ATS in their last four overall. Kansas State is 4-0 ATS in their last four after an ATS win. 

Meanwhile, the Eagles are 5-2 ATS in their last seven after an ATS loss and the over is 6-1-1 in their last eight road games. The over is 4-1-2 in Marquette’s last seven after a straight-up loss. 

PICK: I’m going to try Marquette in this one. We should have a solid matchup here, though. The Eagles posted a pretty good effort against a great Wisconsin team in their last outing, and simply got outpaced in the second half. Marquette shot 44.3 percent from the floor in that one with 32 rebounds and 13 team assists. 

As for Kansas State, they’ve scored fairly well overall this year and have been able to stand up against most competition so far. I like the Wildcats to hang around the whole game here, with Marquette eking out a late cover.
