The Sam Houston State Bearkats and the North Texas Mean Green meet Tuesday in college basketball action from UNT Coliseum. Sam Houston State is 3-6 this year. The Bearkats lost to UTSA in their last game. As for North Texas, they’re 5-3 so far and coming off a win over UMass. Sam Houston went 2-2 over their first four games this year with victories versus LeTourneau and Little Rock. The Bearkats would lose four of their next five games to Boston U, SMU, Texas and UTSA however.

In the UTSA game back on Saturday, the Bearkats fell behind 42-24 at the break. Sam Houston fought in the second but couldn’t come back in a 78-73 loss. Demarkus Lampley led the way on 23 points, and Savion Flagg put up 19 points with 13 boards.

Over on the North Texas side, they hit a 2-3 start with losses to Buffalo, Kansas and Miami-FL in that stretch. Since then it’s been three straight wins for the Mean Green. They’ve taken out Drake, LSU Shreveport and UMass.

On Saturday against UMass, the Green posted a 39-27 advantage at the break on the way to a 66-57 win. Both About Ousmane and Rubin Jones put up 13 points apiece, combining for six rebounds and one assist.

North Texas is 19-9 ATS in their last 28 at home and 23-9-1 ATS in their last 33 after an ATS win. The Green are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games.

Meanwhile, the Bearkats are 5-1 ATS in their last six road games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 after an ATS loss. The over is 4-1 in Sam Houston State’s last five Tuesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with North Texas here. The Green put up a pretty nice effort versus UMass in their last game, shooting 45.3 percent from the field with 30 rebounds and 16 team assists. It’s been a nice three-game run for the Green, but they’re admittedly not a high-scoring team this year.

As for Sam Houston State, they’ve scored pretty well over their last pair and if they can get the offense going the Bearkats could make some noise here. Ultimately I think it’s probably North Texas’ (low-scoring) cover, though.
