Texas Tech vs Arkansas State 12/14/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Arkansas State Red Wolves and the Texas Tech Red Raiders meet Tuesday in college basketball action from United Supermarkets Arena. Arkansas State is 7-2 this year and coming off a win over MS Valley State. As for the Raiders, they’re 7-1 so far. Texas Tech beat Tennessee in their last outing. Arkansas State went 3-1 over their first four games this year, beating Harding, Central Baptist and Southeast Missouri State. After a loss to Morehead, the Red Wolves beat Kansas City, Central Arkansas, UAPB and MS Valley State in succession. 

In the MS Valley State game, the Red Wolves fell behind by one point at the break. Arkansas State hit a 49-43 run in the second half to pull out an 82-77 win. The Red Wolves’ lead scorer was Marquis Eaton with 18 points, four rebounds and four assists. 

Over on the Texas Tech side, they came out of the gate this year with wins over North Florida, Grambling State, Prairie View, Incarnate Word, Omaha and Lamar. After a loss to Providence, the Raiders beat Tennessee last Tuesday. 

In the upset victory over the Volunteers, Texas Tech played through a wild 15-19 deficit in the second half to force overtime. The Raiders posted 13 more points from there in a 57-52 OT win. Terrence Shannon was tops on 18 points and 12 rebounds for Texas Tech. 

The Raiders are 4-0 ATS in the last four at home and 5-2 ATS in the last seven overall. Texas Tech is 3-8 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games. 

Meanwhile, the Red Wolves are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five overall and 5-1 ATS in their last six Tuesday games. The over is 13-5 in AR State’s last 18 after an ATS loss. 

PICK: I’m going to stay with Texas Tech. So long as the Raiders don’t have a hangover from their big win, that is. Texas Tech shot 31.1 percent in the upset over the Volunteers, fighting through to a win with 54 rebounds and six blocks. The Raiders have been a little down on the scoreboard over their last pair, but they hit 84 or more points in each of their first six games this year. I like another big offensive performance from Texas Tech during a cover in this one. (That’s a pretty thick line though, so you wouldn’t be crazy for taking the Red Wolves.)
