The Pacific Tigers and the California Golden Bears meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Haas Pavilion. Pacific enters this one at 5-8 so far. The Tigers lost to UC Davis in their last outing. As for California, they’re 7-5 on the year and fresh off a win over Dartmouth. Pacific won four of their first seven games this year, beating Hawaii-Hilo, Stan State, Chicago State and AR-Pine Bluff along the way. After losses to UC Davis, CSU Fullerton and San Jose State the Tigers beat UCSB then lost to North Dakota State and UC Davis.

Matched up against UC Davis on Sunday, Pacific was outscored 41-21 in the first half. The Tigers went on a 46-36 run from there in a 77-67 loss. Leading scorer Luke Avdalovic posted 18 points, and Jeremiah Bailey had 13 points with seven boards.

Over on the California side, they went 4-4 over their first eight this year with wins over San Diego, Southern Utah, Fresno State and Oregon State. Since then it’s been a 3-1 run with wins over Idaho State, Santa Clara and Dartmouth.

On Sunday versus Dartmouth, the Bears scored 27 points in the first half and 34 more from there in a 61-55 win. Jordan Shepherd led the way on 18 points, and Andre Kelly doubled up on 14 points and 10 boards.

The Bears are 6-1 ATS in their last seven as a favorite and 23-9 ATS in their last 32 at home. California is 17-37-2 ATS in the last 56 Wednesday games.

Meanwhile, the Tigers are 0-6 ATS in their last six road games and 2-10 ATS in their last 12 overall. Pacific is 0-3-1 ATS in the last four Wednesday games.

PICK: I’m going to stick with California. The Bears posted a pretty solid—if unremarkable—win over Dartmouth in their last outing, shooting 42.1 percent from the field with 45 rebounds. Cal has hit 72 or more points in three of their last five games, and there 4-1 in that quintet.

As for Pacific, they’re coming off a rough game. The Tigers haven’t scored more than 67 points in five of their last six and seem to be struggling offensively. If California gets off to a good start in this one the cover should be no problem.
