The Southern Illinois Salukis will travel to the War Memorial at the Sobrato Center to take on the San Francisco Dons this Wednesday night in College Basketball action.

The Southern Illinois Salukis won their 2nd straight game and improved to 7-4 after defeating the Maryville University Saints, 75-55, this past Saturday. Southern Illinois dominated Maryville University on both ends of the court and had no trouble pulling away in the 2nd half after going into halftime with a 37-25 lead. Southern Illinois shot 58.3% from the field & 42.3% from beyond the arc while holding Maryville University to just 39.3% shooting from the field & 26.3% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for the Salukis was Ben Coupet Jr. who had 16 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, & 2 steals.

On the season, Southern Illinois is averaging 65.4 ppg on 47.6% shooting from the field. The Salukis are averaging 8.3 three-pointers per game on 36.3% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, Southern Illinois has been led by Lance Jones (15.6 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.7 apg, 1.9 spg), Marcus Domask (15.2 ppg, 4.5 rpg, 4.3 apg, 1.0 spg), Ben Coupet Jr. (11.5 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 1.2 apg), & Steven Verplancken Jr. (9.5 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 1.0 apg). Lance Jones was unavailable for Southern Illinois in their last matchup and should be considered questionable for this game.

Defensively, Southern Illinois is holding their opponents to an average of 58.5 ppg on 43.1% shooting from the field. The Salukis have a rebound margin of 2.5 and a turnover margin of -0.5.

The San Francisco Dons improved to 11-1 on the season after defeating the Arizona State Sun Devils, 66-65, this past Sunday. San Francisco trailed by a 60-54 margin with under 5:00 minutes left in regulation, however, the Dons were solid defensively down the stretch and pulled out the victory after Dzmitry Ryuny hit the game-winning FT’s with just :14 seconds left in regulation. San Francisco shot 43.4% from the field & 40.0% from beyond the arc while holding Arizona State to just 38.0% shooting from the field & 25.0% from beyond the arc. Leading the way for San Francisco was Khalil Shabazz who had 20 points, 1 rebound, 2 assists, & 1 steal.

On the season, San Francisco is averaging 74.2 ppg on 47.1% shooting from the field. The Dons are averaging 10.1 three-pointers per game on 37.0% shooting from beyond the arc. Offensively, San Francisco has been led by Jamaree Bouyea (17.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 3.8 apg, 1.7 spg, 1.2 bpg), Yauhen Massalski (13.4 ppg, 7.7 rpg, 1.3 apg, 2.2 bpg), Khalil Shabazz (10.8 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 2.3 apg, 2.0 spg), & Gabe Stefanini (9.1 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 1.8 apg, 1.1 spg).

Defensively, San Francisco is holding their opponents to an average of 62.8 ppg on 40.2% shooting from the field. The Dons have a rebound margin of 6.7 and a turnover margin of -2.2.

The Salukis are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games vs. a team with a winning % above .600, however, are just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Dons are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 home games and just 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss.

Southern Illinois has been solid on the defensive this season as they come into this game ranked 20th in scoring defense, however, the Salukis have had troubles at time scoring the basketball and currently rank just 299th in scoring offense. San Francisco has been solid on both ends of the court this season and come into this game ranked 129th in scoring offense, 62nd in FG%, & 68th in scoring defense.

This is a large spread for San Francisco, however, Southern Illinois just hasn’t been great ATS on the road as of late and as I just think the Dons backcourt duo of Jamaree Bouyea & Khalil Shabazz will be too much for Southern Illinois, I think San Francisco pulls away in the 2nd half and covers this spread. Good Luck!
