Air Force vs Utah State 12/29/21 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Utah State Aggies and the Air Force Falcons meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Clune Arena. Utah State is 9-4 so far and coming off a win over Portland State. Utah State lost to UC Davis in their opener, but then went on a six-game win streak before losses to Saint Mary’s and BYU. The Aggies are 3-1 since then with wins over New Orleans, Weber State and Portland State. 

In the Portland State game on December 21, the Aggies jumped out to a 42-29 lead at halftime and cruised to the 81-62 result. Leading scorer Justin Bean put up 29 points with 12 boards, and Max Shulga added 18 points and seven rebounds. 

Over on the Falcons’ side, they lost to South Dakota in their opener before putting up a nice seven-game win streak. Air Force has since lost their last four versus Montana, Arkansas State and Tarleton State. 

Matched up against Tarleton State, the Falcons scored just 14 first-half points during an ugly 67-45 defeat. The only double-digit scorer on the team was Jake Heidbreder with 15 points, three rebounds and one assist. 

Air Force is 1-4 ATS in their last five after a straight-up loss and 5-1 ATS in the last six at home. The Falcons are 2-5 ATS in their last seven overall.
Meanwhile, the Aggies are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 overall and 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. The over is 8-3 in Utah State’s last 11 overall. 

PICK: I’m probably sticking with the Aggies here. Utah State has been on a pretty good roll over their last four games, with a 3-1 record and 75 or more points scored in each. The Aggies have had a few scoring duds here and there this season but overall they’re a good offensive team most nights. 

As for Air Force, it’s been a dismal run over the last three. The Falcons have hit 48 or fewer points in each of those games. I don’t think they’ll be quite so bad here, but it should still be an Aggies cover.
