The Ole Miss Rebels and the Tennessee Volunteers meet Wednesday in college basketball action from Thompson-Boling Arena. Ole Miss is 8-4 so far this year. The Rebels are coming off a loss to Samford. As for Tennessee, they’re 9-3 on the season and fresh off a loss to Alabama. Check back all season long for free college basketball picks at Sports Chat Place.

Ole Miss started out on a 6-2 run over their first eight games with losses to Marquette and Boise State. Since then it’s been a 2-2 run for the Rebels with wins over Middle Tennessee and Dayton alongside losses to Western Kentucky and Samford.

In the Samford game, the Rebels scored 42 points in the first half but couldn’t keep the pace from there in a tough 75-73 loss. Daeshun Ruffin was tops on 17 points, and Jarkel Joiner added 15 points and four assists.

Over on the Tennessee side, they hit a 6-2 run over their first eight games as well this year, taking losses to Villanova and Texas Tech. The Vols then beat UNCG, UNC Upstate and Arizona before a loss to Alabama.

Matched up against Alabama back on December 29, Tennessee was outscored 40-35 in the second half on the way to a 73-68 loss. Olivier Nkamhoua led the team on 15 points and nine boards. Santiago Vescovi added 13 points with six rebounds.

The Vols are 4-1 ATS in their last five at home and 3-0-1 ATS in their last four Wednesday games. Tennessee is 4-0 ATS in their last four overall.

Meanwhile, the Rebels are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 Wednesday games and the under is 7-2 in their last nine overall. The under is 23-8 in the Rebels’ last 31 road games.

PICK: I’m probably going to stay with Tennessee. This should be a pretty interesting matchup regardless, but it’s admittedly a hefty line. The Volunteers shot a tepid 34.9 percent in the Alabama game and were out-rebounded 43-35 on the way to the loss. The good news is that Tennessee has hit 73 or more points in each of their last four games. Ole Miss has 73 or more in consecutive games themselves, so the Rebels should be able to give an early push on offense here. I don’t think they’ve got the legs to keep Tennessee from covering, though.
