San Francisco vs Loyola-Chicago 1/6/22 College Basketball Picks, Predictions, Odds

The Loyola Ramblers and the San Francisco Dons meet Thursday in college basketball action from Bruin Arena. Loyola is 9-2 this season so far. The Ramblers beat Vanderbilt in their last game. Loyola managed a 4-2 run over their first six games this year, losing to Michigan State and Auburn along the way. Since then it’s been wins over Arizona State, Indiana State, DePaul, Roosevelt and Vanderbilt. 

In the Vanderbilt matchup, the Ramblers scored 30 points in the first half and 39 more in the second during a 69-58 win. Leading scorer Braden Norris put up 18 points with nine assists, and Ryan Schwieger added 14 points.
Over on the Dons’ side, they beat LIU, Prairie View, Davidson, Samford, Nevada, Morgan State, Towson, UAB, UNLV and Fresno State before a loss to Grand Canyon. San Francisco has taken out Arizona State, Southern Illinois and Art U since then. 

Matched up against Art U on December 28, the Dons managed 55 points in the first half and a 56-37 run from there on the way to a 111-78 blowout victory. Both Khalil Shabazz and Jamaree Bouyea scored 18 points apiece in the win. 

PICK: I’m going to take a stab on Loyola. The Ramblers have looked pretty good during this five-game win streak, scoring 68 or more points in each outing. Loyola has a couple of losses (one by just two points) against very good teams this year, but overall the Ramblers have been taking care of business and playing well. 

That said, San Francisco should serve as quite the foil to a potential cover here. The Dons have held opponents below 68 points in eight of their last nine games so it could be quite a challenge for Loyola to put up a big number here. Should be a fun matchup overall; I can see it going either way.
