The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors and the Long Beach State Beach meet Saturday in college basketball action from Walter Pyramid. Hawaii is 4-5 so far this year. The Warriors are coming off a loss to South Florida. As for Long Beach State, they’re 4-8 on the season and lost to UCLA in their last game. Hawaii posted a nice 3-1 run over their first four games this year, losing to only Northern Colorado. Since then the Warriors are just 1-4, falling to South Alabama, Santa Clara, Vanderbilt and South Florida in that time.

In the South Florida game back on December 23, the Warriors were down 34-23 at halftime. Hawaii scored 46 points in the second half but still lost 76-69. Tops in scoring was Noel Coleman with 22 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Over on the LBSU side, they got off to a spotty 2-6 start with wins over only Idaho and Wright State. The Beach have since gone 2-2 with wins over Bethesda and Westcliff mixed with losses to USC and UCLA.

In the UCLA matchup on Thursday, Long Beach State was blown out 45-29 in the first half and limped to a 96-78 loss. Jadon Jones was the only team player in double-figures with 27 points, four rebounds and one assist.

LBSU is 3-7 ATS in their last 10 at home and 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 after an ATS win. The Beach are 4-1 ATS in their last five overall.

Meanwhile, the Warriors are 1-4 ATS in their last five Saturday games and 2-7 ATS in their last nine after an ATS loss. Hawaii is 2-5 ATS in their last seven road games.

PICK: I’m going to try Long Beach State here. The Beach really couldn’t keep up with a good UCLA team in their last game, but still shot 42.9 percent from the field with 35 rebounds and 14 team assists. LBSU has hit 74 or more points in four of their last five games.

As for Hawaii, it’s been a while since we’ve seen them on the court so it’s tough telling what they’ll look like in this one. The Warriors have been below 70 points in four of their last five, so they’re going to have to really turn it on offensively if they want to keep the pace.
